Review: Beautiful Dead Book 1 - Jonas by Eden Maguire

Summary: Not alive. Not dead. Somewhere in between lie the Beautiful Dead.

Something strange is happening at
Ellerton High. Phoenix is the fourth teenager to die within a year. His street-fight stabbing follows the deaths of Jonas, Summer, and Arizona in equally strange and sudden circumstances. Rumors of ghosts and strange happenings rip through the small community as it comes to terms with shock and loss.

Darina, Phoenix’s grief-stricken girlfriend, is on the verge. She can’t escape her intense heartache or the impossible apparitions of those that are meant to be dead. And all the while the sound of beating wings echos inside her head...

And then one day Phoenix appears to Darina. He tells her that she must help Jonas—the first of the four to die—right the wrong linked to his death. Only with her help can Jonas finally rest in peace. Will love conquer death? And if it does, can Darina set it free?

4 deaths in the same year at the same high school.
First Jonas; the average high school guy who crashed his motorbike and died while riding with his girlfriend.
Then Arizona; the stuck up, "i'm better than you" girl, everything apparently has become too much for her and she commits suicide.
Next Summer; the girl everybody loved and was kind to all, but gets shot in the mall.
And finally Phoenix; Darnia's boyfriend who after helping his brother out gets stabbed.
They've got one thing in common; there deaths are all mysterious.

I found it was a very quick read because i liked it and got caught up in the story. There is lots of action and excitement and the characters are well written and detailed. I especially like the character of Darnia i liked her spunk and determination to stay with her dead boyfriend, she is brave and smart and wears her emotions on her sleeve.
Eden Maguire has come up with a very good idea and i'm hoping that she will be able to keep it up, i also hope she won't drag the storyline out into too many books like way too many other YA authors do.
